Frequently Asked Questions
What are Candy Credits? For every dollar spent at Nature's Candy Designs, one Candy Credit is earned. For every 100 credits earned you will be issued a $10.00 Gift Certificate to be used on your next order. What is Rhodium-Plated Sterling Silver Jewelry and why is it more expensive than Sterling Silver jewelry? Many of our premier jewelry items are "Rhodium-Plated". All of our Sterling Silver jewelry is composed of and stamped 92.5% silver. The remainder is usually composed of copper, zinc or nickel. The Rhodium finish is a very hard and durable metal, that is actually a derivative from the platinum family, so your Rhodium-Plated jewelry has a shiny "platinum-like" finish that looks like platinum, although it is sterling silver! The plating not only looks like very luxurious and expensive platinum, it also will not tarnish. Can yellow gold be 'dipped' to look like white gold? Absolutely fall in love with your own jewelry again with a new finish! Yellow gold jewelry can instantly be changed into a piece you would love to wear again simply by changing the color of the gold. Gold can be 'Rhodium-Plated' as well as Sterling Silver. A yellow gold bracelet can become a stylish white gold piece, while your white gold jewelry can become yellow or pink gold Sterling Silver Jewelry that is gold plated is known as vermeil. The silver jewelry that is 'plated' is actually 'dipped' in a liquid substance composed of 14, 18, or 24 karat gold liquid. The plating can come in various 'colors' of gold, including white and rose (pink). Yellow gold is having a huge 'comeback' in the jewelry industry, and it is also fun to turn white gold into yellow! What is the difference between 10KT, 14 KT and 18KT and 24KT gold? The gold 'karat' is the measure of the purity of the gold, which is a soft metal that is combined with other metals that provide durability. 10 karat is 41.7%gold, 14 karat is 58.3%gold, 18 karat is 75% gold and 24 karat is 100% gold. Is Rhodium-Plating permanent and how long does it last? An advantage of Rhodium-Plating is that it is not permanent and you can re-plate your piece back to its original color any time you choose. The length of time the plating lasts depends on the type of metal being plated, and the wear and tear the individual exposes to the jewelry. Commonly, a necklace or earring would retain its plating longer than a ring or bracelet, because they would experience less everyday wear and exposure to other surfaces. Can Nature's Candy Designs re-plate jewelry I own already? Yes, we provide a plating service for our customers. The costs depend on the item, but a ring or pair of earrings usually averages $20-$25. However, with the fluctuating and rising costs of gold, each piece has to be individually priced, based on the size and weight of the piece of jewelry. Does Nature' s Candy Designs ship internationally? Yes, we ship internationally via the USPS (United States Postal Service). The fees vary per country, and shipping costs do not include any mandatory charges required by your own country's Customs Office. Your Customs Agency can provide this information. Is everything on your website recycled or "green"? All of our pendants in our Elemental Collection are manufactured from recycled metals, and we purchase the findings (chains, clasps, etc) from vendors who are "responsible manufacturers" that have pledged to use recycled metals. There are other categories that are not recycled -- please contact us if you have any questions. |
